24th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration

December 18, 2008, Palm Beach, FL – Chairman Wendy E. Labbett, Co-Chairman Debra L. Parr, and the Tree Lighting Committee are thrilled to announce that $230,000 was raised at the Adopt-A-Family 24th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration, held at a private club in Palm Beach. This year, Adopt-A-Family celebrates a quarter century of helping local, Palm Beach County families that have fallen through the cracks. The agency’s largest fundraiser, the annual Tree Lighting Celebration, supports Adopt-A-Family’s programs and services helping at-risk families with children right here in Palm Beach County.

Guests shopped the silent auction – filled with wonderful holiday items, creative gifts, and our famous selection of beautiful orchids. During dinner, the live auction featured a child’s Orange County Chopper, a trip to Las Vegas, a diamond pendant and earrings donated in memory of Paul Henry, the private FPL skybox to see a Florida Panthers hockey game, and a ride on the Goodyear Blimp. To cap off the festivities, the Angel Tree – a permanent fixture in the club through the holiday decorated with angels representing “adopters” who have helped families in the past year – was lit while the Adopt-A-Family children sang.

Lawrence J. and Florence A. De George generously served as Grand Benefactors.  Benefactors were The Edward L. Hennessy, Jr. and Ruth S. Hennessy Foundation.  Grand Sponsors were Ed and Linda Edelman, and George and Paula Michel. This year’s Sponsors were W.
