Project SAFE

Project SAFE provides homeless families the opportunity to reside in safe, affordable housing while taking advantage of services that will benefit families for the rest of their lives.  Project SAFE is much more than affordable housing; it is a program with a rich history that has assisted hundreds of families in becoming self-sufficient.

Project SAFE is a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funded program that has been in existence since 1992.  In 2007, the program changed from a two-year transitional housing program to a permanent housing program for homeless persons with disabilities.  Project SAFE enables special needs families to live as independently as possible in a permanent setting.

In addition to receiving permanent housing, families are offered a wealth of supportive services including case management, budgeting, childcare assistance, mental health counseling, support groups, and access to education and job training.  Weekly case management is provided to help families reach their goals.  Residents are responsible for paying 30% of their gross, adjusted income for rent as well as their utilities.
